From Russian impassability to the sky without frontiers
The "Hydromash" JSC was founded in 1805 by Piotr Ilyin as a hose-drawn carriage workshop, manufacturing various types of carriages, which have been honored by a supreme award - to bear the picture of Imperial Emblem.
At the beginning of XX century the "Piotr Ilyin" Moscow Joint Stock Company has engaged in assembling and repair of cars. Over the years of the World War I it carried out the orders of native aviation industry, thus becoming one of the first Russian aircraft plant.
In 1925, "Spartak" Plant (the former name of the Company) had mastered the production of "NAMI-1" cars, which have left behind many recognized foreign trademarks of bantam cars. The Company had also launched the production of "Ford-AA-NAMI" three-axial trucks, whose production technology was later, in 30s, transferred to Gorky Automobile Plant.
The year of 1933 is an important milestone in the Company history - it was submitted to the "GlavAviaProm" (Russian Aviation Central Administrative Board) authority. The Company began the design and manufacturing of landing gears for national aviation industry. The aircrafts I-16, Pe-2, DB-3, equipped with Company's landing gears, have successfully been tested in combat conditions in Spain and at Hulhin-Gol River.
In fall of 1941 plant was evacuated from Moscow to Gorky city. During the World War II years 22.000 of landing gear sets for military aircrafts have been produced and these gears have been mounted on every sixth aircraft manufactured in the USSR in 1941-1945.
In post-war years, under the guidance of A.A. Volkov, Company's General Director, the plant was fully renovated: new facilities have been constructed; advanced equipment has been installed, progressive engineering processes have been implemented. More that 2 000 landing gear sets have been manufactured here in 1949-1951.
From 1969 the plant was headed by Vladimir I. Luzyanin. Under his leadership the Production Association (PA) "Hydromash" took a leading position in national aircraft industry, fruitfully co-operating with the key Aviation Design Bureaus of the country. Leading gears for various modifications of aircrafts and helicopters have been developed here, within the Company.
In 1976 the Company was awarded to the Order of Red Labor Banner for the creation of specimens of a new aviation material.
In 1988 the PA "Hydromash" work collective designed and manufactured the landing gear for "Buran", the Soviet space shuttle.
In 1992 the Production Association (PA) "Hydromash" was reincorporated as a joint-stock company and presently it is a independent, private owned company that does not belong to any concern, holding company or a group of companies.
In 1993 "Hydronash" JSC together with a German Company MBB (Messerschmitt-Bolkov-Blohm) won a
tender of European Space Agency for the development of landing gear for the European space shuttle "Hermes", which allowed the establishing new contacts and expanding existing ties with foreign partners.
Today "Hydromash" JSC occupies a worthy place on an international marker and co-operates actively with leading aircraft manufacturers.
In 2005 "Hydromash" JSC became the only company in Russia, which took part in construction of the largest passenger liner in world - "Airbus"-380. The same year the Company was awarded to Russian Federation President V. Putin Citation for a considerable contribution to the development and creation of a new aviation material.
